Safeguarding in Education

Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility. However Early years and Education providers play a unique role due to their frequent contact with children and families and the relationships that develop over time.

The Education Safeguarding Advisors provide advice, information and guidance to early years and educational settings on their safeguarding arrangements and practice. Our aim is equip staff with the knowledge and skills to protect every child and young person in Somerset from harm support them to develop their potential and to create an environment where they feel safe to learn.

Safeguarding advice is available to all Somerset Education Providers through geographically-based safeguarding groups, early year cluster groups, provider events and the safeguarding newsletter.
