Becky Norris- Team Manager Assessment
Becky currently manages the Assessment Team in the Mendip area. Becky takes the lead in local CSE tracking meetings in the area and works closely with police and multi-agencies to understand young people who are at risk of CSE. Becky takes part in strategy discussions, safety plan meetings and provides support to practitioners to develop safe working plans with families. Becky has a particular interest in developing direct work with parents of children at risk of CSE, Parents are often the first to identify signs that something is seriously wrong with their child. This can be months or years before statutory services and agencies are aware. Unfortunately, most parents in the UK do not know the warning signs of CSE and so raising awareness among parents is vital.
Becky is the CSE Champion in the Mendip area and has completed various additional and specialist training in CSE; raising awareness, direct work and working with parents and carers of children and young people at risk of CSE. Becky is available to consult with Social Workers and professionals in the local area to explore worries and concerns around CSE and can help support professionals to explore Grooming behaviour in CSE, Key warning signs for CSE and how relationships can develop into controlling and exploitative abuse.

Consultant Social Worker
Taunton Children’s Social Care
Mobile: 07976 694210
I am a Consultant Social Worker based in the Taunton office across the Assessment, Safeguarding and Children Looked After teams. I have been a qualified Social Worker for twelve years during which I have spent predominantly working in the Statutory Child Protection arena.
I was allocated the role of CSE champion shortly after I joined Somerset County Council in October 2016 and am working to support my colleagues to identify and respond proportionately to CSE concerns and promote good, open, multi-agency working and information sharing with our partner agencies e.g. education, police and Barnardo’s. In Taunton we’ve been developing our working practices to include Androulla (Andri) Nicolaou (Co-ordinator West of England CSE Victim Identification and Support Service, Avon and Somerset Police) in order to improve the information sharing in relation to alleged perpetrators of CSE so that we can work together to develop local knowledge and understanding of the issues.
In my spare time, I’m an Exeter City Fan and you will find me on the side lines of local football pitches cheering on my daughter.
Sarah Cummins – Social Worker based in Sedgemoor
I work directly with young people who are at risk of CSE or who are being sexually exploited. A common theme of CSE is that young people do not recognise that they are being exploited, and so my direct work helps young people to understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and how to keep themselves safe. I also work alongside parents and professionals to help them understand CSE and the associated risks and to help them put measures in to place that reduce the risk to the young person. My role includes working alongside partnership agencies such as the Police, Health, Education and BASE to share information and create strategies that protect young people from harm. If necessary I represent the Local Authority in their statutory duty to protect children from harm when parents cannot fulfil this role.
Within my own organisation I support colleagues in the identification of CSE and help them to develop plans which aim to keep the young person safe. I support strategy discussions where there are concerns of numerous CSE victims and attend mapping meetings where we can identify vulnerable young people at risk as well as hot spots and perpetrators of CSE. I also deliver CSE training both for the continuing professional development of the Sedgemoor social work team and multiagency colleagues.
